Array Labs is building a distributed radar imaging constellation to power the first accurate, real-time 3D model of the world. Our formation-flying multistatic radar satellites offer a revolutionary new approach to Earth observation, delivering unique and unparalleled insights of our ever-changing planet.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Radar Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in conducting trade studies, designing architectures, and developing innovative solutions for space-based airborne moving target indication (AMTI) radar systems. This position requires expertise in radar signal processing, system design, and performance analysis to support advanced radar applications.

Reponsibilities

  • Conduct detailed trade studies to evaluate radar system design options, including waveform selection, antenna configurations, signal processing algorithms, and hardware/software architectures
  • Develop and optimize radar system architectures for space-based AMTI applications, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Analyze radar system performance metrics such as detection probability, false alarm rates, clutter suppression, and tracking accuracy
  • Develop and utilize simulation tools to model radar system behavior and validate design choices
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and program managers, to ensure successful system integration and deployment
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • Experience with radar system modeling and simulation
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Learn new concepts rapidly, completely, and in a self-directed manner
  • High levels of self-motivation and personal accountability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under significant time constraints
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or MATLAB

Preferred skills and experience

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in radar systems engineering, with a focus on moving target detection and indication
  • Strong knowledge of MTI principles, including Doppler processing, clutter suppression, space-time adaptive processing (STAP)
  • Experience with GMTI, AMTI, and/or moving target detection
  • Experience with military or defense radar systems
  • Experience with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and phased array systems
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic spectrum management and regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices (version control, code review, continuous integration, etc)

ITAR Requirements

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
