Environmental Consulting Manager
Cambium
About Us
Cambium is a growth stage start-up using technology to make it easy to access material we normally waste, turning salvaged lumber into Carbon Smart Wood™. We recently closed a $18.5M Series A funding round to make it easier to buy, sell, and move fiber across the supply chain. In addition to being named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024, we serve clients like Amazon, Equinox, Room & Board, and other leading brands in the construction, design, and furniture industries. It’s an exciting time of growth for Cambium, and we’re looking for ambitious, energetic people to join our mission.
About This Role
As Manager, Environmental Consulting on Cambium’s Consulting team, you’ll lead the execution of innovative projects that unlock new pathways for wood reuse, biomass utilization, and regenerative materials logistics. You’ll work closely with Cambium directors, subcontractors, and field partners to manage consulting engagements from feasibility to market activation. This role is ideal for someone with a background in forestry or wood products who’s comfortable with both stakeholder engagement and technical analysis. You’ll be expected to synthesize diverse data inputs, drive external coordination, and support Cambium’s mission to scale circular supply chains.
What You’ll Do Here
- Lead project coordination and client delivery across 2–3 consulting engagements at a time (e.g. budget, timeline, and key deliverables).
- Facilitate recurring meetings and stakeholder interviews.
- Collect and synthesize field data from foresters, sawmills, haulers, and processing partners for use in feasibility studies, economic impact analyses, and lifecycle assessments.
- Manage partners contributing to geospatial analysis, forestry strategy, or logistics modeling (i.e. reports or forecasts based on silvicultural treatments, fuels reduction projects, or utility treework operations).
- Prepare technical memos, project reports, and slide decks that integrate literature reviews with primary spatial, operational, and economic data.
- Support impact analysis and modeling related to wood reuse, carbon quantification, and sustainable market development.
Your Skill Sets and Capabilities Include
- 4–6 years of experience in natural resource consulting, forest product supply chains, wood reuse, or biomass logistics.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder ecosystems and lead structured project execution.
- Experience collecting and cleaning operational data (e.g., unit conversions, haul distances, wood product specifications) from field partners.
- Strong analytical communicator; able to produce clear, well-structured memos and client-facing deliverables.
- Comfort working with Excel-based models, geospatial tools, and economic frameworks (e.g., FVS, ArcGIS, IMPLAN).
- Familiarity with lifecycle thinking, carbon storage in wood products, and sustainable materials tracking.
